Welcome to the new home for Hiram’s Hams Amateur Radio Society. This site is under construction as we work to restart this society of Masonic amateur radio operators which was started in Ohio during the 1990’s. More history later.

We are sad to announce that one of our founders and the Secretary/Treasurer/Newsletter Editor, Keith Chambers, W8VAN has become a Silent Key and has gone to reside with the Great Architect of the Universe or for Hiram’s Hams, the Great Elmer of the Universe. I did not receive notice of his death but his call was listed as inactive due to death June of 2014. His obituary lists his passing as June 9, 2014. A copy has been posted to this site at W8VAN Obituary

Due to Keith’s health problems over the past several years, a newsletter has not been published since 2004. As a member of the HH Editorial Advisory Board, I have decided that it is time to pick up his mantle and try to start publishing, at least, an occasional newsletter and begin registering new members again. I have received several requests for membership through my HH page at AthensMasons.org and will go through them to start adding to the list distributed to a few us by Brother Steve Putman a couple of years ago. I plan to compare the list of members with their listing in the callsign databases to update the mailing list and create an email list to start an electronic newsletter distribution list.

Please bear with me as I and several other Brothers work to make Hiram’s Hams an active organization again.

    Fraternal greetings and wintertime salutations!
I find the trees out back that formerly supported my 40m full wave magnet-wire loop, are due to be turned into firewood; I don’t know if an article on installing my 40-meter dipole in the attic, using an AH-4 wire tuner on a Radio Oasis dipole intended for direct coax connection, would be of any use for newsletter material or not, but can provide if desired.

  12. A few years back I was a fairly regular on the 20 meter net. I am in the process of getting my antenna re-erected. When you get “Hiram’s Hams” going again, please include me on the list.
